The companies (all in either Pittsburgh or New Bethlehem) include: McCord & Co., Wholesale Dealers in Hats, Caps, Furs, and Straw Goods; S. Ewart & Co., Importing and Jobbing Grocers; Wm. T. Shannon & Sons, Jobbers of Dry Goods & Notions; Arbuthnot-Stephenson Co., Importers & Jobbers Dry Goods & Notions; J. K. McKee Company, Manufacturing Confectioners, Wholesale Cigars & Tobaccos; Bindley Hardware Co.; Red Bank Mills, Manufacturerof High Grade Flour; and J. B. Anderson, Jobber of Hardware and Tinware.  Most of the billheads are in very good used condition, with some light soiling.  A couple have some tearing along fold lines, but very little loss of paper.. London: Richard Blome, 1690. Original copperplate engraving by F. H. van den Hove after the drawing by G. Freman. 16 3/4" by 10 5/8". Published circa 1690-1710 in Blome's History of the Old and New Testaments. Some of the engravings, like this one, included an elaborate banner cartouche honoring one of the patrons whose financial support made publication possible. A second engraving--"Joseph's Chastity"--is printed on the verso. The engraving is in very good good condition: clean and strong impression, with some smudging and faint water-staining outside the image in the margins. Jeffersonton, Virginia: Unpublished, 1961. Archive of 10 previously unpublished black and white photos of Arnold Palmer during his 1961 visit to the Bolling Farms Golf Club. Each of the photos measures 8 inches by 10 Inches. The photos are accompanied by a scorecard for the course that is signed by Arnold Palmer. Also included are 2 promotional booklets for the Bolling Air Force Base Officers' Open Mess (both dated April 1961), which state that the formal opening of the golf course would be on May 30, 1861. It seems likely that Palmer had been invited to that opening. Palmer's host for the event was the base's communication officer, Robert O'Brien, who took some of the photos and appears in the others. O'Brien later became Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Public Affairs under Caspar Weinberger. Bolling Farms Golf Club was owned by Air Force offices at Bolling Air Force Base. London, England: Lowell Reeve, 1858. xvi, 451pages, 2 pages ad for The Literary Gazette, 24 pages Lowell Reeve catalogue, 15 pages catalogue of Francis Frith's 100 Egypt and Nubia stereoviews published by Negretti & Zambra, and 1 page ad for Negretti & Zambra meteorological instruments. Illustrated with a map of Teneriffe and 20 original albumen stereoviews by Smyth. With the Lowell Reeve catalogue dated January 1858, this is the first state of the first edition, one of 1,000 copies printed in January. Charles Piazzi Smyth, Scottish Royal Astronomer, travelled to Tenerife, the largest of the Canary Islands, to make astronomical, meteorological, and geological observations using a telescope on Mount Guajara. His scientific observations were reported in "Philosophical Transactions" and this book was his popular account of the expedition. "An Act to allow the exportation of provisions, goods, wares, and merchandize, from Great Britain, to certain towns, ports or places, in North America, which are or may be under the protection of His Majesty's arms; and from such towns, ports or places, to Great Britain, and other parts of His Majesty's dominions." The effect of this act was to amend the American Prohibitory Act of 1776 to to allow the resumption of trade betwenn Britain and those parts of the American colonies that remained under British control. The Prohibitory Act had been the final straw that led to the American Revoltion, but if Parliament thought the 1780 revisions would reverse British fortunes in the colonies, they would be disappointed: The Restoration of Trade Act was too little and too late. Central City, Colorado: Charles Weitfle, 1879. Stereoview number 328 published by photographer Charles Weitfle in Central City, Colorado, circa 1879. Weitfle moved to Central City, Colorado and opened a photography studio in 1878. He quickly gained renown as his photographs of Colorado towns, mining, railroads, and natural wonders earned awards from the Colorado Industrial Association. The image in this stereoview is a natural rock formation in what is now Pike National Forest. The stereoview is in very good condition: clean and bright, with minimal soiling on the mount.. Printed only for members of the Camera Club of New York, the edition size was no more than 300, and far fewer than that have survived. Written by Eliot while he was still a student at Oxford in 1910-1911, the poem was not published until 1915 in Poetry: A Magazine of Verse. It was the first professionally published work by Eliot, and it placed him at the forefront of the modernist movement. This first appearance of "Prufrock" is much more scarce than the 1917 book edition, and it seldom appears on the antiquarian book market. The magazine is in very good condition: generally clean and bright, with some vertical closed tears along the spine of the wraps; a very faint water stain limited to the bottom 1/4" of the front cover; one tiny dark stain at the bottom of the rear cover; several short closed tears and one tiny chip on the foreedge of the rear cover.
