Some foxing, mainly to the first dozen or so pages, otherwise mostly bright throughout. Finely bound in recent half tan calf. Spine with five raised bands, ruled in blind. Compartments tooled and lettered in gilt. Green title label, gilt. Marbled paper on boards. Top edge gilt. A very good attractive copy of this scarce war time Sherlock Holmes title.

Verve. Paris.,1938/9. FOLIO. (14.1 x 10.4 inches). Two issues bound in one hard back volume. Fully illustrated throughout with drawings, paintings and photographs, these 2 numbers contain original full lithographs by Chagall, Miro, Rattner, Klee, Matisse & Derain. The two issues have been bound into one hardbound volume and the binding has been beautifully hand painted, in acrylic and oils, with an abstract design, including the volume title, to both the boards and the spine by noted Neo-Expressionist American painter Gaylen Hansen. Some rubbing to the edges and one split in the front board (without loss) but generally in very good condition.Included with the volume is a fine hardback copy of the fully illustrated book issued in 2007 to accompany the retrospective exhibition "Gaylen Hansen: Three decades of Paintings" at the Seattle Art Museum (October 2007 - January 2008) and Salt Lake City Art Center (February - April 2008). :.

Finely bound in Publishers delux leather binding of dark brown morocco, spine lettered in gilt. Front board with onlayed reproduction of one of the book's colour plates in gilt and six different coloured leathers. Green endpapers illustrated with white silhouettes. Top edge gilt. Neat previous owners name and address stamp to top of front free endpaper. Minor rubbing to the edges but overall a very good copy of this beautiful delux edition.

R. Ackermann. London. 1823. SECOND EDITION, a re-issue of the 1817 edition. 8vo (9.9 x 6.6 inches). Illustrated with 24 fine hand-coloured, full page, aquatint plates, the colouring still strong and bright, by Thomas Rowlandson. The plates are generally on smaller leaves but all are complete with image and printed lettering in the margins. Some minor spots of foxing to a few leaves but generally clean and bright in the scarce original publisher's red/brown cloth binding, with gilt lettering and decoration on spine. Decorative blind stamped panels on boards. Original yellow coated endpapers. Previous owners bookplate to front paste down endpaper and ink name to front free endpaper. Some rubbing to top and tail of spines and fore-edges, and the inner hinges cracked but holding firm. Some loss to the very bottom of the spine but generally a very good example.

K EDITION. 8vo. 1st state of title page with the comma present after Essex Street. 4pp of publishers advert, dated autumn 1915. 31pp publishers catalogue, dated 8/5/15 bound in at rear. A very good clean copy in publishers original red cloth, titles and decoration to spine in gilt. Previous owner neat ink presentation inscription, dated 1. 11. 15, and the same name, but with his army number and regiment details, in pencil on front free endpaper. Spine cloth is a little darkened but the gilt is still bright and fresh. Some rubbing to edges and a one inch tear in the hinge cloth to the top of the front board. Overall a very good copy.

Spine with decorative gilt bands, the compartments blind decorated and lettered in gilt. Board edges with gilt decorative roll design. Marbled endpapers. Gilt inner dentelles. All edges gilt. Some rubbing and minor bumping to the corners but overall a very good and attractive copy of this charming and unusual little book, a fantasy voyage through the perspective of household objects. The book is undated, but the Bibliotheque Nationale de France catalogue gives the publication date as 1828.
