About This Item

Norwalk, Connecticut: Easton Press, 1997. [1997] Deep blue hardcover bound in genuine leather. Frontispiece, 273 pages, including comprehensive Appendices NOT A TRADE BOOK EDITION, CHEAP COMPOSITE LEATHER, OR FACSIMILE. Genuine full-leather fine binding features beautiful gilt designs. Sophisticated six raised ridges on back (spine). Binding's lettering and designs stamped with gorgeous accents of 22kt. gold - a hallmark of fine bookmaking. This beautifully bound full-leather was hand selected from individually tanned hides. Textured and shaded, acid-neutral paper won't turn yellow over time. Pages are Smyth-sewn into the binding for permanence (not glued like ordinary books). Endpapers are beautiful satin moiré, specially dyed for the publisher. All edges gilded on three sides to enhance the book's elegance. Satin ribbon page marker bound into book. Condition: A few minor gilt scratches on edges, else overall Fine condition. Pristine, never read (some competitors claim their books are new but the books were read; our genuine leather copy is fine, never read). Housed in temperature-controlled environment. Free of the smell of cigarette or cigar smoke. True discipline, the ultimate reward for superior morales, is historically the determining factor in the outcome of war. It is not the value of du Picq's book, as an explanation of the disasters of 1870, but of the triumphs of 1914-18, which gives it present and permanent interest. This book is a valuable guide for the professional soldier confronting the horrific war-making capabilities of the twentieth century military powers. This book is a classic, gaining acceptance alongside classics such as On War and The Art of War. And a very collectible leather-bound book in Fine condition. Note: We are a well-established, well-respected, ethical book dealer in business since 1991. We describe the condition of our books thoroughly and honestly, so you'll know exactly what you will be receiving when you order. We ship promptly. . Leather. Fine.

About R. Siedlecki Vintage Books

We are a well-established, well-respected dealer that is professional, honest, and ethical in our business dealings. We tend to describe each book in a reserved, conservative manner, rather than oversell a book or sidestep the responsibility of addressing its flaws. Book club editions and library books along with books without dustjackets (if they came with dustjackets) are pointed out in our descriptions. We describe our books in detail, pointing out the precise condition of each book based on our opinion. It's your assurance that the book we describe is as close as possible to the book you’ll receive. In business since 1991, we typically have five-star ratings on major web sites.
