About This Item

Chicago: Field Museum of Natural History, 1925. First Edition. Loose Plates in Folder, within Slipcase. Near Fine/Slipcase - Good. 4to. With three two pages of preface following the title page and blank, followed by 38 plates, most featuring multiple images, of black-and-white photography. House in a plain card-stock folder that fits within the printed paper-covered slipcase. Plates are in superb condition; slipcase with seams starting, scuff on rear panel, and edgewear. A presentable copy. A fine reference work for the student of Chinese basketry, illustrating baskets by region and utility, our favorite being the "examination basket," in which the aspirant visiting a provincial capital for grueling civil servant examinations enclosed his books, writing materials, the cozy for tea-pots and the curious basket-weave pillow.
