An early copy of The Comic History of Rome by Gilbert Abbott à Beckett. This work is a comic history of Rome from the founding of the city to the end of the commonwealth. Illustrated by John Leech with ten hand coloured plates and various wood engravings throughout the text. Collated, complete. Beckett was an English humourist. Undated, dated from Jisc. In the original cloth binding. Externally, smart with some marks to the boards, fading to the spine and bumping to the head and tail of the spine. Front hinge is starting and is generally firm, rear hinge is starting and is loosening. Frontispiece is loose. Internally, generally firmly bound with bright and clean pages. Good
