About This Item
London: Hamilton, Adams & Co, 1875. First. Hardcover. Very Good. A very scarce work on conic sections.
This copy is very good in green library clothe with a leather spine and gilt titles on the spine. The spine is faded but the binding is quite sound. A blindstamped library crest is on the front cover. Otherwise just minor scuffing on the covers. Ex-library from the City of Nottingham Public Library, with typical library stamps and labels, but showing very little use. There are 110 numbered illustrations, nearly half of which are on the 22 pages of foldout pages at the rear. The remainder are included within the text. The text, including the foldout pages, is age toned, but otherwise in excellent condition.
It is inscribed at the top of the title page by the author "Presented by the author to the Lit. & Phil. Soc. Nottingham". An ink stamped is also on the title page, "Presented by the Nottingham Literary and Philosophical Society 1883", apparently when it was passed to the Nottingham Free Library.
Original copies of the book are quite scarce, and I am unable to find any other author inscribed copies. FO.
