From the series of works featuring Inspector French. Crofts wrote many works of detective fiction during its golden age. His character Inspector Joseph French is his most memorable. In a full cloth binding with original dustwrapper. Externally, excellent. Minor shelfwear to the boards. Small tidemark from an ink spill to the tail of rear board. Dustwrapper is lacking a large portion of the spine. Further closed tears to the front wrap from the front joint. Red ink spills to the rear wrap at the bottom, more visible to internals. Chipping to the extremities of the wrap. Prior owner's inscription to the recto of front endpaper has faded. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are slightly age toned due to paper used and clean throughout. Very Good Indeed

Coils of wire and boxes of hand grenades are reported missing from a Home Guard ammunition store in a Cornish coastal village. Soon after an explosion on the beach nearby kills an old man. And then there's another murder! Inspector French investigates.
