A wonderful botanical work on the flora of New Zealand, by the celebrated botanist, Thomas Kirk. The first edition. Rebacked with the publisher's original embossed cloth boards. With 159 full page botanical illustrations, one of which is folding. Collated complete. A fascinating work on the flora of New Zealand, written by Thomas Kirk. Kirk was an English botanist, teacher and writer who moved to New Zealand in the 1860s. His other works include, 'The Durability of New Zealand Timbers', and, 'Students' Flora of New Zealand'. With two library stamps to the title page. Rebacked with the publisher's original cloth boards. Externally, smart with shelf wear to the extremities and light marks to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages age-toned but otherwise very bright and clean with some scattered handling marks. Two library stamps to the title page. Some chipping and small creases to the folding plate, number 121. Small lower loss to plate 86. Closed tear of about 2 inches to plate 61. Small closed tear to upper part of plate 55. Tear to the corner of plate 45A, which could result in detaching. Closed tear to plate 39. The odd small tear to the pages. Very Good
