New York: Duffield and Company, 1925 First U.S. edition. (6),462 pp Octavo. Original publisher's blue cloth with black lettering on the spine. All edges trimmed. Bookplate on the front pastedown. Frontis portrait. Heavily illustrated with drawings done by the author. The original illustrated dust jacket has not been price clipped but has edge wear and a piece missing from the bottom of the front panel and one at the top of the spine. Both are affecting some of the text. Aside from the defects the jacket is in relatively clean condition, especially given its age. A near fine copy with a good to very good jacket. AB 11991: "[a] retrospective account of the author's first trip to the Arctic in the Sealer "Viking" in 1882". An attractive copy with the scarce dust jacket. 1925
