Halfbound leather fine bindings with polished calf leather to spines and corners and marbled paper boards, with gilt line edging, raised banding and full gilt decorations to spines, with gilt lettering to red twin leather spine labels. And marbled endpapers and page edges. In very good condition. Some minor rubbing to edges and corners, with some light rubbing to boards, else covers very clean and smart. Previous owners bookplate to front endpapers. Some minor/mild foxing spots to prelims and title pages. Inside pages all very clean, tight and bright throughout. Maps and plates overall all clean and bright. 5 volumes: Illustrated with B&W engraved plates and folding coloured maps. Frontis Fold-out coloured view of Sebastopol in vol.3. Kinglake followed the British expedition to the Crimea and wrote this exhaustive history at the invitation of Lady Raglan.
