New York: Harper and Brothers, 1946. Hardcover. 269p., very good first edition stated in black cloth boards with red panels and gilt titles on front cover and spine, in a good, unclipped red dj with wear at head of the spine and corners. Dunphy was a companion of Truman Capote, his "Dear Genius" relates their life together which is also explored in Ryan Murphy's wonderful "Feud: Capote vs. The Swans" with Jack portrayed by the lovely Joe Mantello. This was his first book and novel which concerns an Irish-American family man and worker in Philadelphia. No homosexual content but his later book, "Friends and Vague Lovers" is Young 1109.
