About This Item
Boston: Houghton Mifflin, 1926. 8vo size blue clothbound hardcover with full page color illustration laid on top cover. Illustrated endpapers. 300 pages plus full color frontispiece and three additional color illustrations all on glossy stock. From Preface: "Two Mexican children were really captured some years since on the other side of the Rio Grande by the Indians, and carried off to the Llanos Estacados. After four years spent in captivity, they made their escape, and safely accomplished the almost impossible and truly incredible feat of walking three hundred miles... to bring them first to the frontier of Texas, and then restore then to their mother in Mexico." Bumped head and heel of spine, edgewear, some rubbing to illustration on cover. Titles on spine are faded. Owner's and bookseller's labels inside front cover. Binding is cracked at title page and spine is cocked. There is a large bookplate on the blank page after the title page which has caused some transfer to the previous page and two wrinkles on the reverse of the page. We note fingermarks on several pages and two teeny tears in the margin of the Preface page. Thanks for shopping with us. 100% of your purchase benefits charity and supports literacy and life-long learning. . Pictorial Cover. Good/No Jacket. Illus. by Tenggren, Gustaf. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
