London: The Religious Tract Society, 1895. Cloth. Very Good. 7.5" by 5". None. An illustrated and revised third edition of this work exploring the life and religion of the prophet Mahomet. Third edition, revised. With eight plated illustrations and a map. Collated complete. This work is an abridgment of 'The Life of Mahomet,' published c1912. It follows the birth, pilgrimages, sickness and death of Mahomet. Written by Sir William Muir, a Scottish orientalist, colonial administrator and Lieutenant Governor of the North-West Provinces of British India. In the original brown cloth binding. Externally, generally smart with shelf wear to the extremities and marks to the boards. Slight rubbing to the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean with slight age toning to the extremities. A few spots to front and rear pages. Some pencil inscriptions to front page, margins and rear following index. Very Good
