About This Item

New York: Random House, 1976. [Bound Advance Proofs]. Soft cover. Fine. Softcover : [viii], 308pp. : original red bound wrappers. Stead's eleventh novel written in the 1950s. The author's last novel published before her death was marketed as a story about a "liberated" woman although most critics have not viewed it in that light and see the heroine as a rather misguided individual. Despite being fairly critical of the novel, Lidoff in her biography states that "it shows in flashes some of that singular Stead genius." The copy is in excellent condition.
