Two dustjackets, the top one with titles the one below without. Dustjacket condition: Fine, with just a faint hint of shelfwear. This book was the winner of the James Monroe Thorington award for best book in mountaineering history at Banff Mountain Book Festival 2006, and the front of the top dustjacket bears a sticker declaring this (see image). 359pp. Over 120 b/w illustrations. Two folding maps drawin by Ted Hatch to rear. Light crease to lower right corner of the first, which depicts the route of the Mount Everest Reconnaissance Expedition 1935, Darjeeling to Mt.Everest.This book tells the story of the fifth Everest expedition in 1935, which was led by Eric Shipton (1907-1977), and is based on the diaries of the team members..
