New York: Bernard Geis Associates, 1960. Author’s Edition (Limited to 100 copies) . Leatherbound. Very Good. 8vo (315 pages, illustrated). This Presentation copy of Harry Truman’s post-Presidential essays is signed and inscribed on the half-title, to JAMES E. WEBB (1906-1992), who served in Truman’s administration as Under-Secretary of State to Dean Acheson and then served as Administrator of NASA during the Kennedy and Johnson administration; the agency’s Golden Age. The inscription reads: “To the Hon. James E. Webb from Harry Truman, with kindest regards. Independence Sept. 29, 1960.” The book is the brown quarter-leatherbound “Author’s Edition,” limited to 100 copies, in virtually mint condition, with a still-bright topstain and the publisher’s original cardboard pictorial slipcase, which exhibits light wear.
