About This Item
London: Cassell & Company, Limited, 1906 . Cloth. Very Good. 8.5" by 6". Cherry Kearton. A highly illustrated, popular edition of Richard Kearton's observations of a field naturalist and animal photographer. In the publisher's original pictorial cloth binding. The popular edition. First published in 1897. With text by Richard Kearton and photographs from Cherry Kearton. Richard and Cherry Kearton were brothers who were both prominent British naturalists. They developed innovative methods to photograph animals in the wild. This volume was their most famous work, as it was the first natural history book to be entirely illustrated by photographs in the wild, with 180 photographs taken by Cherry Kearton. This work is devoted to their excursions to remote places such as St. Kilda. In the publisher's original pictorial cloth binding. Externally, very smart, with light bumping to the extremities and a touch of rubbing to the joints. A little darkening to the spine. The odd mark to cloth. Age toning to endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean. Very Good
