About This Item
London: Souvenir Press, 1958 . First edition. Cloth. Very Good Indeed/Very Good. 9" by 5.5". Not Stated. The first edition of this memoir and autobiography about Liv Balstad's experiences living in the Arctic circle. First edition of North of the Desolate Sea by Liv Balstad in the original publisher's cloth binding and clipped dust wrapper. An uncommon work. An exciting, honest, and fascinating look into life in the Arctic Circle, as Balstad reveals the ups and downs of her daily life after she relocated and married the Governor of Spitzbergen. Profusely illustrated with black and white photographs, across twelve plates. Collated, complete. Prior owner's ink inscription from 1958 to the first pastedown. In the original publisher's cloth binding and unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, very smart. There is some slight bumping to the head and tail of the spine. There is some wear to the extremities of the dust wrapper including some small closed tears and light marks. Prior owner's ink inscription from 1958 to the first pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are bright and clean with some light age toning. Very Good Indeed
