Good (A very nice copy internally but for the detached (but laid in) signature that includes the title page and 7 others, a few minor blemishes: light coffee stain on lower part of page 26; ink notation at bottom of page 107; very light age toning to page edges. Covers have bumped corners and a few white stains. Art school ex-lib. copy with usual marks. Black cat ex-libris plate on fep.. Green cloth with black line drawing image of playing card (King of Clubs). Re-bound tan spine (to match old spine cloth). 235 pp. plus blank pages for notes; color frontis and 313 (+4) color and bw figures. Missing dust jacket. Fascinating study of playing cards with delightful illustrations. Covers various manufacturers, suit signs, musical cards, Asiatic, European and English cards, taxes on cards, Indian Deity, stories of gamblers, and all sorts of quirky things to do with the history of playing cards. As the title says, "curious"!
