Kansas: University of Kansas Press. 1988. First edition, first printing. First edition, first printing. Original blue cloth with gilt lettering to the spine, in dustwrapper. A fine copy, the binding square and firm. There is a previous owner's name written neatly in ink to the upper left corner of the front free endpaper, and the same owners initials to the centre of the rear pastedown. The contents are otherwise clean throughout. In the unclipped dustwrapper, with a couple of scratches to the front panel, and a small tear to the upper edge of the rear panel which has been repaired with a small piece of tape to the verso. "Grover Cleveland, who served as both the twenty-second and the twenty-fourth president of the United States, dominated the American political scene from 1884-1896. [...] In this revisionist study, Richard Welch takes a fresh look at the Cleveland administrations and discovers a man whose assertive temperament was frequently at odds with his inherited political faith."
