About This Item
Bakersfield, CA: Santa Barbara Book Publishing Company, 1948. Book. Fine. Hardcover. 1st Edition. Stated First. Sky blue buckram cover with dark blue titles, nice tan endpapers, nearly new with only slight wear to spine ends and micro wear to tips. Spine tight, boards rigid with clean interior. Tiny stain to upper text block edge with slight browning to page edges and little crumple to top spine. Bibliography. Jacket has fray and loss at many edges effecting the letters along the front top cover and especially heavy (1/4" to 1,1/4") at spine ends and tips. Price clipped. Still a decent, presentable book about the old adobes. "A truly unique book, beautifully illustrated. In it old Santa Barbara lives again." "One day in December of the year 1881...[G.B.] Trabucco's mutilated body was discovered in the kitchen of his house [The Masini Adobe]. There was ample evidence he had been brutally tortured in an effort to find the hiding place of his money." Looks handsome in shiny new mylar cover. .
