The first edition.Two volume complete set. Illustrated with monochrome frontispieces, monochrome vignettes and twenty-two monochrome plates to 'Volume I' and thirty-nine to 'Volume II'. Collated complete. This set of works on coaching was written by the English author and illustrator, Charles G. Harper, and provides a historical account of stage and mail coaching, discussing the introduction of carriages, up to the end of the coaching age and what became of the coachmen.In the publisher's original cloth. In the publisher's original cloths. Externally very smart with fading to the spines and extremities, bumping to the extremities with a small closed tear to the tail of the spine to 'Volume II' and spotting to the front board to 'Volume I'. Bookseller's label and ink inscriptions to the front pastedowns with offsetting to the free endpapers. Internally firmly bound with bright and generally clean pages with light spotting to the blanks.
