Signed by author second time following preface. 730 pages, 6" x 9." No Jacket. Pages = Very Good: Gold gilt to top edges, splotching from a liquid to all edges, very light yellowing, else sharp, tight and clear with no marks. Cover (red cloth boards with debossed title in red on gold frame front, embossed gold gilt designs and remaining particulars both front and spine) = Good: Tight and square, with little rubbing to corners, much outside spotting from a liquid. Overall book = Good Plus. "Superbly Illustrated with Portraits and One Hundred and Twenty Engravings from Designs by Eminent Artists, Made Expressly for this Work." Illustrators include Edmund H. Garrett, William L. Sheppard, Howard Helmick, and Charles Copeland.
