A first edition copy of this book of utopian literature by the author, historian and Unitarian minister Edward Everett Hale. The first edition of this work in the publisher's original cloth binding. An engaging piece of utopian literature written by Edward Everett Hale (1822-1909). In the title story, a utopian colony of Sybarites is discovered off the coast of Italy. Hale was an American author, historian, and Unitarian minister, best known for his writings such as "The Man Without a Country", written in support of the Union during the Civil War. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally generally smart, with shelf wear to the extremities, joints and head and tail of the spine, with a small loss to the cloth to the head of the spine. Hinges are starting but are held firmly. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Very Good
