About This Item
London: Paladin. 1988. First edition, first printing. First edition, first printing. Paperback original. Signed by the author on a bookplate affixed to the verso of the front cover. Original card wrappers illustrated by Anthony Davies. A clean, near fine copy, the binding square and firm, the spine without any creasing. A touch rubbed to folds and spine tips, with some light creasing to corners, the pages with light marginal toning owing to the low-quality paper stock. Priced £5.95 to the rear panel. Signed by the author in black ink on an illustrated bookplate affixed to the verso of the front cover. Raworth's compact selection from twenty-five years of work. "Single-handedly, Tom Raworth has restored the value of quickness to English poetry. His is the alacrity of Shelley, of Byron, of Gerard Manley Hopkins, reinforced to meet a modern urgency. It is poetry of sensation, intelligence flashing down the spillway, faster than thought." (Bill Berkson) Further details and images for any of the items listed are available on request.
