William Temple Hornaday (1854-1937) was a hunter, taxidermist, zoo director, and founder of the American conservation movement. In 1882, he was appointed Chief Taxidermist of the In 1889, Hornaday published The Extermination of the American Bison a popular work that did create public support to save this species.
