The works of Sir William Jones, a British philologist, orientalist, puisne judge on the Supreme Court of Judicature at Fort William in Bengal, and a scholar of ancient India. He is best known for his proposition of the existence of a relationship among European and Indo-Aryan languages, which later came to be known as the Indo-European languages. This set includes: Memoirs of the Life, Writings and Correspondence of Sir William Jones, in two volumes. A Discourse Delivered at a Meeting of the Asiatick Society, in Calcutta, on the twenty-second of May 1794. Illustrated with twenty plates, one of which folds-out. On the Chronology of the Hindus, written in January 1788. Illustrated with seven plates, four of which fold-out. The Design of a Treatise on the Plants of India. Illustrated with four plates, three of which fold-out. Poeseos Asiaticae Commentariorum Libri Sex, Cum Appendice; Subjicitur Limon, Seu Miscellaneorum Liber. Illustrated with four plates. Externally, smart with only light rubbing and bumping to the extremities. Minor loss to the rear board of volume 2. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with the odd spot. A beautiful set in a special Regency binding. Very Good

Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
