A fine and readable social history of the Elsevier family of printers and publishers and the social milieu of publishing in the Netherlands beginning in the 16th century. Produced as a keepsake of sorts from the publisher to attendees of the 13th Congress of the International League of Antiquarian Booksellers in Holland. Sturdy, attractive, tightly bound hardcover, clean, if toned, minimal rubbing to extremities. Brick-red paper over boards, paper title labels to spine and front cover, lightly rubbed and soiled from proximity to another leather-bound book. Previous owner's penciled inscription at first free endpaper. 159 pp., with bibliographical note.Member, I.O.B.A., C.B.A., and adherent to the highest ethical standards. Additional postage may be required for oversize or especially heavy volumes, and for sets.
