New York: Henry Holt and Company, 1924. Reprint of the second edition, which was published in 1921 (the first edition was published in 1916). Inscribed by the author on the front free endpaper with a four-line fragment from his poem "A Fountain, a Bottle, a Donkey's Ears, and Some Books" (not printed in this book). Octavo (8 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches; 216 x 145 mm). 75, [1, blank], [1, publisher's list], [3, blank] pp. Frontispiece portrait with tissue guard. The first poem in this book is "The Road Not Taken."
Manuscript poem fragment reads "How had the tender verse escaped their outrage?/ By being invisible for what it was,/ Or else by some remoteness that defied them/ To find out what to do to hurt a poem"
Publisher's quarter dark green cloth over gray green paper boards. Front cover lettered in gilt and spine ruled and lettered in gilt. A nearly invisible dampstain to front board and top edges. In the original printed dust jacket. A bit of minor chipping to edges and some light soiling. Behind the dust jacket is a secondary jacket, quite tattered. An about fine copy.
