A very fine, bright, tight copy, with minimal rubbing at the extremes of the spine & the corners, of what is perhaps the greatest American novel, preserved in a green half morocco slipcase. Enclosed is a facsimile copy of the defaced plate on page 283, which was so objectionable that it had to be removed.<br/> <br/> Very early issue, with most of the points. The title page and pages 283/4 are cancels; "was" for "saw" on page 57; error in the list of illustrations has "Him and another Man" on page 88; the final "5" is present in slightly larger type; scarf present in the frontispiece bust, with Heliotype Printing Co. credited; signature sign is missing on page 161; page 59, line 10 missing the final "t"; "Huck Decided to Leave" on Contents page. Thre is an old ownership signature on the verso of the frontispiece.<br/> <br/>
