Stated first edition. A collection of submissions from about 800 poets, most getting one page to provide 1-3 poems. Presented alphabetical by author, from Virginia C. Abbott to Jose Zakus. In a random search I found about one in eight to have published any significant other works of poetry. Vantage Press was a notorious vanity publisher, found in 1990 to have committed fraud against many of its authors by failing to provide the promotion for the books fully paid for by the authors ($3.5 million judgement). Vantage Press ceased operation in 2012. The "New Voices in American Poetry" series was published by various companies, and while most are not suspected of a "pay-to-play" scheme, this particular edition most likely was. All that said, this is still a rare book, and I am not a person able to judge the merits of the poetry contained within.
