Description:
Tumut: Harry Hill. Very Good+. 1997. First Edition. Paperback. 0646344080 . Signed by the author page 5, With illustrations in colour and black & white, a very good copy. By 1980 Old Currango was over 100 years old. It was the oldest standing building in Kosciuszko National Park, but was fast moving towards the ruin classification. Luckily, the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service found volunteers, linked with Kozcuiszko Huts Association, who were willing to restore the building. The restoration started in 1987 and took eight years to complete. Harry Hill has documeted all the restoration work, has researched the building's history, and most importantly, has hunted for, and found, 20 people who had a close association with the building and the area in years past. Their recollections provide fascinating snapshots of the earlier part of the century. This is a very readable book and will be appreciated by those interested in Australia's cultural heritage." --Back cover. ;… Read More
