About the author

The Author: Ashok K. Gangadean is currently Professor and Chair of Philosophy at Haverford College, where he has taught for the past twenty-nine years. His primary concern over the past thirty years has been to clarify the universal logos or common ground at the heart of human reason and rational life. This theme has been developed and tested over the years through his courses, public lectures, and published essays on a wide range of topics including logical theory and the philosophy of language, metaphysics and comparative ontology the development of global philosophy, explorations in the global significance of Hindu, Buddhist and Zen thought, comparative philosophy (east and west), philosophical theology, and interreligious dialogue. Dr. Gangadean recently published a companion volume: Meditative Reason: Toward Universal Grammar also in the Revisioning Philosophy Series (Peter Lang). Another related book - Time, Truth and Logic - will appear soon. He is also the Founder-Director of the Global Dialogue Institute which seeks to embody the dialogical powers of global reason in all aspects of cultural life. His forthcoming book, The Awakening of the Global Mind, develops these themes for the general reader.
