About the author

C. J. Stratton Ph.D. obtained his Doctorate in Science from Brigham Young University (1973) and completed Post Doctoral training at the UCLA School of Medicine. He was Professor of Anatomy, and Chief of Neuroscience, at the University of Nevada, School of Medicine, for 35 years. He was the founder and Director of the first In Vitro Fertilization Clinic in Reno, Nevada (1981). Many infertile couples now have children and grandchildren because of the pioneering work of Dr. Stratton and his associates in the assisted reproductive technologies. He is internationally recognized for his work in hyaline membrane disease in infants. He was the first to describe, with electron microscopy, the ultrastructural anatomy of the human lung. His teaching specialty is the clinical embryology and physiology of the human brain, for which he has received several awards and honors. With his siblings, he has spent a lifetime researching the history of New Spain and Tucson. This book is the final product of that extensive research. He and his wife, Marsha Romney, have six children and thirteen grandchildren (2010).
