About This Item
New Hope, Pa: Bucks County Playhouse, 1941. Good -. 3, [1] p.; 24 cm. Illustrated advertisement for Flemington Fur Co. on back. The program for the final week (the week of Sept. 15) of the third season of the Bucks County Playhouse in New Hope, Pa. The playhouse was presenting The Guardsman by Ferenc Molnar, starring Louis Calhern, Haila Stoddard, Walter Slezak, and Edith King. Also appearing were Patricia Worrall, Charles J. Parsons, and Susan Dolph. Page 2 contains reflections on the season and comparisons to the previous season. Stapled to the upper corner of the front is a ticket stub from the final performance on the evening of Saturday, Sept. 20. Haila Stoddard was one of the original share-holders in the Bucks County Playhouse; The Guardsman was one of 16 productions that she appeared in from 1939 to 1958. Programs from the early seasons of the Bucks County Playhouse are scarce. In Good- Condition: creased; front has darkened area along upper edge; creasing and small tears along upper edge with some loss from along upper edge of second leaf, without loss of text.
