About This Item
Cambridge, Illinois: B.W. Seaton, Printer, 1876. Octavo. 327(1) pp. An early history of a county which was less than 40 years old when this book was issued. There is much on the early pioneers, schools, churches, benevolent societies, and many ways in which the county grew and was deeply affected by the Civil War (especially pages 307-327). The appendix p. 299ff provides many fascinating details on early elections and political issues. Bound in black linen stamped in blind, rebacked, paper spine label lettered in black, yellow endpapers, wear through to one corner and edges. A very good copy. [Howes, S-326.].
