About This Item
[Np.] AP Wire, 1968. Two gelatin silver prints with color marks from print production work, each 8 x 10 inches in landscape format. Very good condition.
The first photograph depicts Senators Robert Kennedy and Ted Kennedy arriving at Atlanta's Ebenezer Baptist Church amidst a bustling crowd, accompanied by police officers and reporters. The second image captures candid moments of Robert Kennedy, his wife, Archbishop Cooke, Whitney Young, Atlanta Mayor Ivan Allen, and others in the church, either sitting in pews or standing along the walls.
Enroute to the church, the funeral procession was estimated to be as any as 100,000 individuals. The solemn event brought together remarkable gathering of influential civil rights leaders, politicians, public servants, and notable figures from the realms of arts, entertainment, and sports.
