Pages and illustrations have light tanning and foxing throughout. Water staining to some page edges, text remains unaffected. Boards have light shelf-wear with corner bumping. Light tanning to spine and edges with crushing to spine ends.

A four page introduction by the artist precedes the sketches. Stain to cloth on lower right of rear board. Front board slightly bowed and a bit tender at hinge, but holding nicely. Cloth binding shows light wear. Neatly written previous owner's name and date to front free endpaper. Slight rippling to sketch pages, becoming more noticeable towards the end of the book. Images not stained and otherwise in very good condition. First published in November, 1934, this is the second edition published a few months later, in February, 1935. Unpaginated.

Collated, complete.Cecil Aldin was a British artists and illustrator best known for his pastels and paintings of animals. Prior owner's ink inscription to the first free endpaper from 1935. In cloth binding. Externally, smart. There is some bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. There are some markings to the back board. The spine is slightly worn. Minor fading to the spine tips and the bottom couple of millimetres of the front board and the usual offsetting to both sets of end-papers overall a VG+ copy. `In the RARE D/W with a 1.5 cm chip from the top of the spine and miniscule chipping from the base. The D/W is partially foxed to the front panel. Four page introduction by the Author followed by more than 80 portraits of dogs printed on one-side only on heavy light-brown art paper. A much nicer copy than normally seen of this classic set of dog drawings in Cecil Aldin's inimitable style in a combination of brown, white and black. A nice copy.
