Ex-Library with usual markings: catalogue sticker on spine, bookplate inside front cover. NO DUST JACKET. Pages clean and unmarked, a few small tears. Slightly tanned and foxed. INCLUDES FOLD-OUT MAP with a few tears. Blue cloth covers with gilt decoration show shelf wear with rubbing to edges and corners. Book is slightly shelf-cocked. Scuffing, chipping, and tears at the top of the spine. Hinges cracked, binding remains mostly tight. AN EXCELLENT READING OR REFERENCE COPY. In 1891 The Bishop of Exeter accompanied by Miss Bickersteth went to Japan for two months to visit his son the Bishop of Japan This is an admirable account of Japan from the point of view and there is a full description of the earthquake of October 1891 and among other two views of the destruction caused by the earthquake.
