Reprint of the 1892 edition which was one of the most important 19th century works on Iran. Curzon provides a great wealth of detail on many aspects of Persian life, history and topography. Cass apparently did not reprint the large folding map which appeared at the end of the first volume of the 1892 edition.

Hardback 639 pages, very good condition, cover with slight wear, no dustjacket.

Illustrated throughout, and with maps in text as well as a large folding map in a rear pocket of volume one. Light rubbing else a near fine set. Curzon was commissioned by The Times to write several articles on the Persian political environment, but while there he decided to write a book on the country as whole.
