The journey took the crew from Cardiff to Africa (Dakar, Senegal) to South America (Brazil) to Deception Island and "Penguin Land". With references to Antarctic explorers, including the Belgica Expedition under Adrien de Gerlache who was the first explorer to survive a winter in the Antarctic (1898 - 1899), having been trapped in the ice in the Bellinghausen Sea. 8vo, 160pp, b&w photographs throughout.
