Description:
Winnipeg MB: St. James Anglican Church, 2001. Revised and Updated . Spiral Binding. NEW/No Jacket. 194 p.; NEW; a history of St. James Anglican Church in Winnipeg, first written/compiled by Anita Schmidt in 1975 and published by her husband Lawrence F. Schmidt in 1975, updated to incorporate developments from 1974-2001. First 135 pages seem to be unchanged from original, with added pages. Many B & W photos included. The story begins with the building of the rectory, schoolhouse and the church itself, between 1851 and 1855. Much interesting information about the early days of settlement along the Assiniboine, the buildings, the ministers, and the parish, both the old church (which is now maintained as an historic site) and the "new" church, built in 1922 on Collegiate Street in St. James. A valuable source for anyone interested in local history or with family connections to St. James. MULTIPLE COPIES AVAILABLE. This book is sold on behalf of the church and all proceeds will go to St. James Church.… Read More
