North China Daily News & Herald Limited, Shanghai, 1929, Ist edition. 243 pp, small 4to (10 5/8" H), hard cover (textured green cloth with gold lettering on spine and front board, black silhouette on front board) - no dust jacket. 23 plates + 1 b&w drawing. Introductory chapter covering the identification, naming, migration, etc. of birds, followed by the birds of Shanghai arranged by order and family and described under the headings: Field identification, Description, Nesting habits, etc. A few faint tiny foxing marks on rear pastedown and on verso of frontispiece, light browning and scattered light foxing on edges of textblock - mainly on bottom, moderate rubbing at corners and top/bottom of spine, wrinkling at top/bottom of spine, bump to top of rear board near spine, two light scratch lines on rear board, light wrinkling to cloth and small area of color fading on spine, a few very small areas of color loss on front board - mainly near top of hinge area. G+ sound reference copy..
