Description:
CECH (John): Angels & Wild Things. The Archetypal Poetics of Maurice Sendak. Pennsylvania State University Press, 1995. Square 4to., xx 284 pp., including 10 full color reproductions (six are double-page) + 110 b/w illustrations of Sendak images (some from sketchbooks and preliminary drawings) or that which inspired them; brown cloth boards gilt-titled on spine, full color pictorial dust-jacket. First edition, originally conceived as a college on Sendak's art and the philosophy (psychology) behind his images, allegories and symbolism. Description:
SENDAK (Maurice): At Home With Jack And Guy
Kingston, NY: Battledore Ltd., 1999.Original lithograph measuring 14 x 19-1/2 inches, printed in two colors. Drawn by the artist directly on stone in 1993 and intended to accompany a deluxe version of We Are All In The Dumps With Jack And Guy(New York: HarperCollins), this project was put aside and the fate of this image uncertain until publication was transferred to Battledore Ltd in 1999. With Mr. Sendak's permission, we arranged with Timothy P. Sheesley of Corridor Press to produce 200 copies of this limited edition print on Rives Arches paper, each authenticated with their chop mark stamped on the lower left margin; numbered and SIGNED by the artist (an additional 38 copies total were done as trial proofs, artist proofs, hors commerce, and bon à tirer). Accompanied by a printed certificate of tirage limitation. The actual stone is now at The Rosenbach Museum & Library (Philadelphia) where it will be available for educational purposes but never again… Read More

Description:
BILL CLINTON 1993 INAUGURAL PRINT signed by MAURICE SENDAK
SENDAK (Maurice): "HAPPY INAUGURATION ... A Jubilee Welcome for Our New President and His Family! From the Children of America, Maurice Sendak, and Harper Collins Publishers January 20, 1993". SIGNED.
Original art print on semi-stiff paper, the design by Maurice Sendak and commissioned by his publishers as an official greeting to welcome the Clinton era -- it was published in major newspapers all across the USA on the actual inauguration day, and may have been given to those invited to one of many inaugural parties: but exact limitation is unknown, except it is quite rare and unusual.
The actual image appears to be a duotone from graphite, with a red and blue single rule surround with caption below: overall measurement is 13-1/16 x 12-1/2 inches (33.2 x 31.8 cm). A small quantity was acquired directly from the artist, who then signed each one in ink. It is the only political image Sendak did in his entire oeuvre. Our copies are… Read More
