Brown endpapers, portrait of Mother Elizabeth Seton frontispiece. Boards are scuffed with fraying to corners and spine ends. Binding is fragile with some pages lightly rippled midway through text block, including a section of pages that show a closed tear down the center, but are in tact. Foxing to flyleaf and toning to pages, else contents clean with sound binding.The third edition of the original 1853 publication by American Catholic historian, priest and native Baltimorean Charles White. Mother Anne Seton, widowed religious and founder of the parochial school system in the United States, was canonized by Pope Paul VI in 1975. This is the first and most authoritative and popular hagiography of the Saint. Includes plates with etchings and drawings of Mother Anne Seton and places of her residence.
