Description:
80 pages, and First Edition as noted by number line. Recounts the stories of two remarkable real-life "song catchers," Josephine McGill and Loraine Wyman who travelled individually in the Cumberland Mountains in 1914 and 1916 on horse-back and foot to collect English folk songs and Ballads. The first half on the book is full of historical photos from the Hindman and Pine Mountain settlement schools, and introduces the Dulcimer and its importance in the local music. The second half of the book includes transcriptions - lyrics, melody, and dulcimer tablature- of 20 twenty songs out of ~200 collected by these women. Covers and pages are clean and unmarked.
