Illustrated with 13 tipped-in colour plates, as well as 45 black and white in-line illustrations. 10 X 7.5 (25 X 19). [1] Half-title; illustrated frontice; title; publisher's page; intro6duction; illustration list; pp.5-95; [2].
Stiff paper boards with paste-down cover design featuring title and author detail, and fairy illustrations. Decorated endpapers with prize bookplate pasted on front free endpaper. Sound binding with some minor page separation (as shown) between page 64-65. Tissue guards are not present. Small tear to bottom of page 26. Front cover board shows some age wear and discolouration. Good condition overall.
The Birth of the Opal is comprised of poems and accompanying illustrations of one Miss Daphne Allen (1899-1985), who at age 14, published two collections.

Pictorial endpapers; half-title; [2] Illustrated frontice with tissue guard; title pagel; contents; list of illustration; pp.1-247; [1].
Grey cloth boards with navy fairy design on front board. Title, author and publisher detail on spine. Pictorial endpapers. Shelf wear to top and tail of spine, Light foxing throughout but does not impact readability. Small groove indent to front cover. Some discolouration to front and back boards, left from handling. Endpaper has begun to pull away from binding in upper corner but remains attached.
Join Ruth, Normal and Uncle Hal on their adventures in the land of Goodness-Knows-Where, as the trio joints up with Turvy Wee, the fairy outlaw in search of the Pearl of Happiness.
Harold Gaze (1884-1963) was a New Zealand born author and illustrator of children's books.

Blue cloth boards, decorated with gilt, white and green illustration. No dust jacket. Decorated spine with title, author and publisher detail. Shelf wear to top and tail of spine edges. Some loosening to spine. Light to moderate foxing throughout but does not impact readability of text.The collection of The Original Poems for Infant Minds was published anonymously as a single volume, in 1804. After it's success, more poems were solicited, leading to an addition volume in 1805 and again in 1806, made famous for Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star.Jane Taylor (1783-1824) was an English poet and novelist, best known for creating the lyrics to Twinkle, Twinkle, Little, Star.Adelaide O'Keefe (1776-1865) was the daughter of novelist John O'Keefe and was an author and children's poet.
