A native of St. Augustine, he did historical research on Spanish colonists and especially their architecture. An engaging writer and a skilled artist, he explains how and why various structures were built the way they were. The information in the book is of special use to anyone trying to interpret historic or archaeological sites, especially those trying to carry out reconstructions.
