Description:
Revised edition, followed by L'Alleluiah. A marvelous copy of two of Georges Bataille's finest books together forming vol. 2 of his somme athéologique (with a previously unpublished preface). "Le Coupable is the account of a paradoxical 'mystical' experience, born out of the pages of a diary written from 1939 to the summer of 1943. This experience, in spite of the appearances disturbed by the events, does not follow a specific religious trace. To Le Coupable is attached L'Alleluiah, a burning invitation to eroticism from the lover to the lover."Partly first edition, one of only 30 numbered copies on pur fil, this copy being number 8, uncut. Minor traces of sunstroke without gravity at the back. A very pleasant and rare copy.
Édition revue et corrigée, suivie de L'Alleluiah. Réunis, deux des plus beaux livres de Georges Bataille pour constituer le tome 2 de la Somme athéologique (avec une préface inédite).
