Description:
Denmark 2013. Since its inception in the 19th century, photography has brought to light a vast array of represented subjects. Always situated in some spatial order, photographic representations have been operatively underpinned by social, technical, and institutional mechanisms. Geographically, bodily, and geometrically, the camera has positioned its subjects in social structures and hierarchies, in recognisable localities, and in iconic depth constructions which, although they show remarkable variation, nevertheless belong specifically to the enterprises of the medium. This is the subject of Representational Machines: How photography enlists the workings of institutional technologies in search of establishing new iconic and social spaces. Together, the contributions to this edited volume span historical epochs, social environments, technological possibilities, and genre distinctions. Presenting several distinct ways of producing space photographically, this book opens a new and important field of…

Denmark 2001. What makes us human beings; what seperates us from the rest of nature? This book poses this question. Archeological finds tell us about early mankind: about the psyche of humankind, the stages of development mentally and physically in the last 3-4 million years. Abstraction, analogy, metaphors is part of the complex human and therefore the art we create. These pictures include paintings in stone, jewelry, weapons and ornaments that convey symbols, the element of ritual and religion. , Danish, Year2001, Illust. B/W0, Illust. Description:
Denmark 2005. This book gives a thorough history of Aros and the viking world. The Vikings were Scandinavians-Swedes, Norwegians, and Danes. They spoke different dialects of Old Norse and understood each other wihtout much difficulty. The word Viking is usually associated with piracy and looting, but the activities of the Vikings were far more comprehensive.Finds and research are presently throwing still more light on the shadowy era when the prehistory of Denmark becomes history proper. The Viking Town of Aros (Aarhus), is rooted in the late 8th century. During this very early Viking Age, a pattern begins to emerge: a trading place, eventually surrounded by a rampart and a moat. Aros is not just a place for taking shelter, the town on the river mouth by the large bay becomes a commercial centre and part of the national defense system. , English, Year2005, Illust. Description:
After Glow documents the New Nordic Porcelain Forum, a project which focuses on the Nordic tradition of porcelain production. The focal point is the collaborative work of 13 ceramic artists from the Scandinavian regions, who gathered for a residency in Denmark in 2019 and in 2021 for a two-week stay in various workshops associated with porcelain production in Norway, Sweden, Denmark, and Finland. This publication not only serves as an exhibition catalog, it offers insights into the important industrial and design histories of northern Europe, as well as into today's use of porcelain as an artistic medium. In doing so, it is hoped that the production of Nordic contemporary ceramics will advance to a new collaborative practice in order to transform and therefore preserve this important cultural heritage., English, Year, Illust. Description:
Sweden 2006. Voices is an exhibition of work by ten pioneering Swedish ceramic artists. In curating this exhibition, Inger Molin* has chosen ceramic artists from different generations and with very different voices and approaches to their work. What they have in common are that they are natural representatives - and leading exponents - of the dynamism and originality of contemporary ceramic art. Viewed together they enable us to discern something unique about the contemporary development of ceramics in Sweden. Free in their relationship to traditional ceramic art they seek new directions and emphasize freedom of expression. No longer is it the material that is important; but what the ceramic artist has to say. Frida Fjellman, Renata Francescon, Eva Hild, Pontus Lindvall, Mårten Medbo, AnnaSofia Mååg, Gustaf Nordenskiöld, Kjell Rylander, Per B Sundberg and Kenneth Williamsson - their work has been enthusiastically received both at home and abroad. The artists contributing their voices to the…
